This week, we have very interesting news about the iPad to report as well as some innovative promotions coming up on PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker that you’ll want to take advantage of.
iPad Trademark Officially Belongs to Apple
In breaking news, Apple has obtained the rights to the “iPad” trademark in the United States, settling any possible dispute between the company and Fujitsu. This is not the first time that Apple has developed and announced a product before acquiring its naming rights, as a similar squabble occurred in 2007 between Apple and Cisco over the “iPhone” name.
New Apps Revealed for iPad
Apple put together an iPad-specific App Store in anticipation of the launch of the product in the United States. MacRumors.com gained access to the bestseller lists and some of the apps include “Flight Control HD,” “Real Racing HD,” and “Labyrinth 2 HD.” Early app prices range from free to $4.99, with higher-end programs selling for $9.99. One of the higher priced apps is OmniGraphSketcher, which costs $14.99 and lets you make elegant and precise graphs in seconds.
Want an iPad at Launch? Charge it!
There are documented reports around the internet that Apple has placed preauthorization holds on credit card accounts for iPad orders placed earlier in the month. The holds represent a check to ensure that sufficient funds are available, as iPad orders are about to be fulfilled. Supply is expected to be extremely limited.
New iPhone App Works Like Sharkscope
A new program appeared in the App Store for the iPhone (which will also work for the iPad), called “Poker Stats 101,” which allows you to search a screen name for a player. You will then get tournament results returned if they play on sites like PokerStars or Full Tilt Poker. The app isn’t reviewed yet, but can be purchased for $4.99.
Take 2 Returns
The Take 2 promotion returns to Full Tilt Poker in April. Double Full Tilt Points will be awarded and a $25 bonus can be had for those who participate during the entire nine-day period. Take 2 runs from April 3rd to April 12th.
PokerStars Unveils Another New Television Show
The “PokerStars Big Game” is a brand new televised cash game show and you can qualify to play. Just play in any of the Round 1 tournaments running from March 26th to June 25th to be given a chance to submit a casting video. The irony of winning a tournament in order to play in a cash game isn’t lost on anyone so far, except those putting on the promotion.

Both are rolling out noteworthy tournaments, with PokerStars running its three-tiered Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) during the first week of May, while Full Tilt Poker will start up FTOPS XVI on April 23rd.
