This week, we have news from Apple regarding another potential update for Snow Leopard as well as an Intel announcement about processors for the Mac Pro line. Amazon Releases Kindle App for Mac
In a bit of a shocker, Amazon released a Mac software application that allows Kindle books to be read under Mac OS X. The rumor is that Amazon has been hard at work on this app for over five months. The timing of the release is definitely strategic, as Apple’s own eBook reader, the iPad, comes out in three weeks.
Another Build of Max OS X 10.6.3 Released to Developers
Yet again, we caught wind of another update for Snow Leopard. Apple released build 10D571 of Mac OS X 10.6.3 to developers for testing according to the site iPhone in Canada. The site said that developers are focusing their testing on graphics drivers, QuickTime, fonts, and iChat.
New Processors for Mac Pro Computers
Intel announced on March 16th the launch of its new Xeon 5600 series processors, aimed at updating the Mac Pro line. Intel has said that these are the first server and workstation chips based on the new Intel 32nm logic technology, which uses high-k metal gate transistors to increase speed. An update to the Mac Pro line is widely expected and reported on MacRumors.com. Currently, the systems use Intel Xeon 5500 series processors. Using these new processors would allow Apple to offer up to a 12-core Mac Pro running at base speeds of up to 2.93 GHz.
PokerStars SCOOP Deposit Bonus Coming?
Several people on TwoPlusTwo have posted that while attempting to initiate a cashout on PokerStars, they received notice that it would make them ineligible for the SCOOP reload promotion. The Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) is one of the two large PokerStars tournament series for the year and kicks off in May. So far, the reload bonus is simply access to freerolls, with no mention of a cash bonus being offered. The SCOOP will have three buy-in levels for each event, allowing access for players of small, medium, and large bankrolls.
Full Tilt Poker Series España
Full Tilt Poker is looking to make its mark in Spain by announcing the Full Tilt Poker Series España. Between April and December, Full Tilt Poker will be hosting four live events in Spain’s top casinos, culminating with a Grand Final in Barcelona. The first three events will have a €1,500 + €150 buy-in and a €150,000 guaranteed prize pool. The Grand Final, which will take place on December 2nd and conclude on December 5th, will be a €3,000 + €200 buy-in event and have a €550,000 guarantee. The first event will be played from April 23rd to 25th at the Casino Castell de Peralada in Gerona. There are weekly satellites running Tuesdays and Thursdays for $200+$16 and on Sundays for $500+$35 that award a $3,200 prize package.
