This week, the new iOS 4.2 was released and there is some very interesting news about a news service coming to the iPad. We also have a rumor about Apple’s Black Friday discounts and will find out about two amazing promotions on Full Tilt Poker and UB.com.
iOS 4.2 Released
For iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad users, the new iOS 4.2 was released. It brings over 100 new features from iOS 4.0 and 4.1 including multi-tasking, folders, unified inbox, game center, AirPlay, and AirPrint. For the iPad, it makes it a practically new product. In addition, a new Find My iPhone feature is now available to all users of Apple’s current generation products for free. Before, this required a MobileMe subscription.
Tablet-Focused News Service
News Corp and Apple might be teaming up to develop a new tablet-centric news service that would cost $0.99 per week. Apparently, there has been a 100-person hiring push within News Corp just for this project, with Apple taking an integral role in the technical side of its development. According to rumors, there will be no print or web edition of this news service, which would only be available via tablet computer. Also in the report are rumors that high-quality HD video cameras will be used to provide some of the content. Dubbed “The Daily,” we might see this service go live as soon as December 9th.
Black Friday Discounts at the Apple Store
As usual, we’re hearing nothing in terms of what will be on sale at the Apple Store on Black Friday. On the Apple website, there is a message telling visitors that there will be a special one-day Apple shopping event that starts at 8:00am on Friday. Typically, Apple offers modest discounts on their products, around $100 off for iMacs and MacBook Pros.
It’s Rush Week!
Players at Full Tilt Poker can rejoice, as another Rush Poker week will be arriving on November 29th. Players can earn up to $250 in free bonus cash and win free entry into an exclusive $50,000 Rush Week Freeroll tournament. All Rush Poker tournaments will have their guarantees doubled for the duration of the promotion and Saturday’s $80,000 Guarantee and the Sunday Brawl will be converted into Rush Poker tournaments.
In order to participate, go into the Full Tilt Poker lobby and head to the Cashier. Once there, click on the big “My Promotions” button and then select “Rush Week”. You’ll be asked if you want to participate and click the appropriate button to join in the fun.
Sit and Go Promotion at UB.com
UB.com is handing out freeroll seats to players who can win three sit and gos in a single day and awarding tournament entries to the top weekly sit and go winners. Players just need to win three sit and go tournaments in a day in select buy-in levels and they’ll then be slotted into a special $10,000 freeroll for 50 seats into Sunday’s $200,000 Guarantee.
The buy-in levels are $5 and $6, $10 and $11, and $20 and 22. The site is also handing out tournament seats to the players who collect the most combined wins per level from Monday to Saturday.
