Online poker players rejoiced at the news that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) had officially been delayed for six months this week in a major news announcement. We also saw some great deals that are still running for Black Friday on top of a couple of cool promotions hitting two major poker sites. Let’s check out what’s going on.
UIGEA Delayed Six Months
Just before the UIGEA went into full effect and set into place mandatory compliance of its regulations, action was made to delay it by six months. United States Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke granted the request for the delay to take the date to June 1st, 2010. Next Thursday, December 3rd, the House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing to discuss the merits of two bills aimed at regulating and legalizing internet gambling.
Major Discounts for Black Friday and Cyber Monday
Apple unveiled its Black Friday sales for their online and retail stores. As expected, the deals were almost identical to what MacPoker reported in our Black Friday primer. MacBook Pros and iMacs each had a $101 discount, while the iPod Touch was discounted by $21 to $41 depending on the model. The deals at MacMall and MacConnection turned out to be more significant and in the range of 12% to 15%, as opposed to the Apple Store’s 5% to 8% discounts.
No Knock-Off Power Supplies
Another day, another lawsuit for Apple, as they have filed a patent infringement suit against a company in Anaheim, California. Apple has claimed that this company is selling third-party power adapters that infringe upon an Apple patent filed in 2001 and granted in 2003 for the design of the power supplies.
Full Tilt Poker Brings Back Sit and Go Madness
Rounders who enjoy the sit and gos will have plenty to play for between December 4th and 6th on Full Tilt Poker. The popular Sit and Go Madness promotion is back and more than $125,000 in extra cash and prizes are up for grabs. The 48 hour madness will be divided into two-hour blocks, with each block having its own leaderboard. The top seven players in each group during each block will be paid. There is also an Overall Leaderboard for the entire promotion and the top two players in each group’s Overall Leaderboard will meet in a $5,000 freeroll. Finally, there’s the $50,000 Madness Freeroll taking place on December 12th at 16:50 ET. Players can claim an entry to the freeroll by winning at least two sit and gos during the 48 hours of the promotion.
