Beth Shak
Beth Shak has been a professional poker player since 2004. Born in the United States, Beth gained her fame playing poker on multiple TV shows and having subsequent interviews on many talk shows. She has made TV appearances at the WSOP, Aces & Angels (Playboy tourney), Good Morning America, You’ve Got, The Today Show, and MTV Cribs. Needless to say, the fact that she has gotten so much TV exposure paired with the fact that she is a professional poker player has garnered her lots of attention in many poker circles.
Beth Shak is also an entrepreneur, running her own clothing business for over 10 years before getting seriously into poker. She has appeared on Celebrity Nightmares, Millionaire Matchmaker, and New York Ink, giving her even more brand power to her already recognizable name. Her business savvy was noticed by Cosmo magazine who gave her a weekly column. She is also an Internet marketer and online entrepreneur, launching her own two shoes lines called “Beth Shak Couture” and a lower end design called “Beth Shak”.
Shak was signed onto Team Full Tilt recently, which is fitting because that is where she learned how to play poker many years ago. She started on the play money tables at Full Tilt to learn the ropes and eventually moved to real money online. When she started playing live poker, she had trouble adjusting, and had to learn how to not show her tells and how to truly compete against the men at the table, rather than faceless internet icons which are much less scary.
Placing 5th place in the 2005 WSOP Ladies event, as well as a 2nd place in the 2007 $3k NL holdem WSOP event. She has a total live tourney purse of $450,000 and you can expect that number to definitely grow in the near future. Beth has a sharp mind and at age 43, still looks like she is in her 20’s.
