As predicted, Apple announced a new line of iMacs that include an innovative LCD screen and a slick new mouse. The big news wasn’t solely left up to the folks in Cupertino, as the online poker sites that support Mac OS X had a few announcements of their own.
Apple Announces New iMacs
The new iMacs come in either a 21.5″ or 27″ display size and feature a new LED-backlit display, each with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The 27″ edition has a resolution of 2560 x 1440, which exceeds 1080p HD, and has a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Included with all new iMacs is a wireless keyboard and new “Magic Mouse,” which has never-seen-before features. The wireless mouse is the world’s first Multi-Touch mouse and has no visible buttons or scroll wheel. However, the built-in software lets you configure the mouse to work any way you want it to and it has a smooth design that supports two-button clicking. The hardware inside the iMac is the fastest ever released, with new video cards from ATI and nVIDIA as well as the latest Nahalem processors from Intel. Pricing starts at $1,199 for the base model and goes up to $1,999 for the 27″ Quad-Core model.
